Never before in Advocate Brokerage’s more than 50 years of selling insurance have, we seen such volatile weather patterns leaving so much damage and causing so much pain and suffering from coast to coast and around the world. This has resulted in a significant shift across the insurance industry, causing insurance rates to rise drastically, non-renewals to happen with more frequency, and in some cases, causing customers to have trouble obtaining any coverage at all.
Many of our clients are uncomfortable with these changes, especially the homeowner’s insurance rate increases. We understand. We do our best to make sure that we educate each client we serve and as such, we want each of our customers to understand that if we continue to see both extreme weather changes AND an extreme increase in the cost of construction, we will see insurance rates rise.
We have often said that we obsess about perfecting your insurance coverage and it is true! We take the time to identify your needs, shop and price an insurance product that we believe is the best one for your specific needs, and then we do our best to explain to you why the policy we have recommended truly is right for you. That all holds true even during these trying circumstances. Your angst over the increase of your insurance rates truly is our burden. At the end of the day, know that we will always do our best to make sure your insurance is fairly priced and provides you with excellent coverage. We always look for solutions and ways that we can recommend premium savings if available.
When you look at the unprecedented occurrence of natural disasters and how they dominate reports issued by organizations such as the World Economic Forum, the insurance companies are no longer looking at the climate-related issues as isolated events. When you factor in the aging infostructure of several metropolitan cities such as New York and the stress that natural disasters can place on the local economy, it makes insurance some risk unaffordable for customers and unfeasible for insurers. The insurance companies are losing this battle right now and customers with residences located in at-risk locations are paying the price.
